About the International Bioforum

This website offers a platform dedicated to exploring the relationship between people and nature.

We assume that humans are an inseparable part of life on Earth.

We reject the common assumption that we are privileged and independent from nature.  We need to learn to work with rather than against the natural world.

This involves redesigning much of the built environment and societal arrangements to be nature sensitive: a kind of biorenaissance.

The challenge is to re-think the way our urban and industrial environments work so that they remain within the planet’s boundaries and redress those areas that have already been exceeded.

The platform is open to short contributions from others on ways and means to maintain Earth’s system dynamics and reverse current destabilising trends.

The approach builds on the pioneering work of Stephen Boyden in human ecology; the planetary boundaries of the Stockholm Resilience Centre; the microbiology of Walter Jehne and the work of human ecologists everywhere.

Here is a chance to share your ideas on the way forward.
